4. Story Design 1

The Soup Nazi

1. Character Development 

- Jerry, George and Elaine patronise a new soup stand Kramer has been praising; its owner is referred to as the "Soup Nazi"

2. Presentation Style

- They're placed in a new surrounding, which makes them unfamiliar with it, and their neutral personality will be exposed easily. 

3. 3 ACT 

Act 1: Jerry finds a new soup shop that makes the best soup anyone has ever taste, everyone goes to this new soup kitchen because the soup is so great. 

Act 2: Elaine buys an Armoire and asks Kramer to watch it. While watching it, Kramer is robbed by some gay, trash-talking street toughs who want nothing more than the Armoire. The Soup Nazi offers Kramer an antique armoire he has in storage in his basement. Kramer gives the armoire to Elaine as a replacement for her stolen one. Elaine goes to thank the Soup Nazi for the armoire, but the Soup Nazi angrily declares that he would have never provided it to Kramer if he had known it was for her, stating he would have smashed it to pieces with a hatchet instead.

Act 3: Elaine returns home, where she and Jerry subsequently discover the Soup Nazi's secret soup recipes, which have been left behind in a drawer of the old armoire. She returns to his shop, with recipes in hand, and declares that she will devastate his business by exposing the recipes.

4. Story is based on?

- THEME: Comedy

- PREMISE: Soup craving 

- CONCEPT: The excessively strict regimentation of the Nazi Soup chef constant demands of his patrons

- MEANING: If you want to have a taste of the best soup in town, you'd have to deal with the attitude of the chef. 

- KEY IDEA / MESSAGE: A leopard will never change its spots, due to the kind compliment by Eliane, but yet the Soup Nazi is still angered by her. 

- CHARACTER: Jerry Seinfield and the Soup Nazi

Elaine's Story

1. Character Development 

- Elaine is taking the subway to a wedding. 

2. Presentation Style

- The characters are presented in conversing common topics first, but later realise when Elaine was speaking about something taboo, the older women moved away. 

3. 3 ACT 

Act 1: Elaine is on her way to be the best man in a lesbian wedding. 

Act 2: Elaine then meet this older woman, and began a small talk. She stated that she's going to a lesbian wedding, which creeps out the woman. The train is then later stopped, Elaine began panicking as she's going to be late, and regret taking the subway when she could have taken a cab.

Act 3: The train then proceed to move again, but end up stopping in a few more seconds.

4. Story is based on?

- THEME: Slice of life/Subway

- PREMISE: Taking the subway 

- CONCEPT: She is going to a lesbian wedding

- MEANING: She is claustrophobic when the train stopped 

- KEY IDEA / MESSAGE: If you're going to an important event, make sure you take the fastest type of transport and be there earlier in advance.

- CHARACTER: Elaine

Kramer's Story

1. Character Development 

- Kramer is rushing to grab a seat in the train. 

2. Presentation Style

- Everyone in the train wants to get a seat and fought with Kramer for it, in the end he was desperate and ended up squeezing in with a fat boy seat, which can barely fit 2. He is then seen fighting over a newspaper with another commuter. 

3. 3 ACT 

Act 1: Kramer rushes to the train with other commuters hoping to grab a seat.

Act 2: He was unable to get a seat, and ended up squeezing with a fat guy out of desperation. Later on he and another commuter spotted a leftover newspaper. 

Act 3: They fought for it, and Kramer ended up getting just a small bit of it. 

4. Story is based on?

- THEME: Comedy/Subway

- PREMISE: Grabbing a seat.

- CONCEPT: Kramer wants a seat.

- MEANING: He is desperate for a seat and the newspaper left by another commuter. 

- KEY IDEA / MESSAGE: Desperation will lead you to no where.

- CHARACTER: Kramer

Must-Have Info: He is a patient teacher who is willing to nurture his students to be fluent in english language.

Motive: Jeremy Brown's aim is to coach his students so they are able to speak decent english language.

Conflict/Obstacles: His students have very short attention spend on learning. They are easily distracted by other minor issues that are happening in the classroom. 

Key Character(s): Ali Nadim

Must-Have Info: He is one of the the first student to make his appearance.

Motive: He aims to learn English perfectly.

Conflict/Obstacles: He is unable to get along with another fellow classmate and ends up arguing with him all the time.

Confrontation: Jeremy Brown is unable to keep his students interested in learning English language.

Turning Point: When Ranjeet and Ali decided to exchange blows with each other and the rest of the class had to step in to stop them from fighting. 

Obstacles: Maximillian and Giovanni have been fighting for Danielle's affection. Ranjeet and Ali are unable to accept each other background differences.

Climax (Grand Finale): Jeremy Brown decided to hand out homework to all of his students to end the lesson and quickly left the classroom to avoid more inquiries by the class.

Motive resolved: He managed to teach a few basic principles of english by correcting their mistakes.

Character Biography 

 Jeremy Brown 

Jeremy Brown is the English teacher and focal point of most of the series. He holds a degree from Oxford University. He is hired in the series pilot, in which he is warned that the previous teacher was driven insane by the students. Mr Brown is up to the challenge, however he often has to put up with the students' often literal, creative interpretations of the English language.

Giovanni Capello

Giovanni Capello is an Italian chef, the class's loudest student and de facto class monitor. He is best friends with Max, who becomes his flatmate. Giovanni's main problem with English is understanding metaphors and large words, though he often answers wrongly on purpose to amuse the class. He often calls Mr. Brown "Professori". When shocked or surprised, he often remarks "Santa Maria" or "Holy Ravioli", and also often says "okey-kokey" instead of "okey-dokey". When he doesn't understand something he says "scusi".

3 act structure

Act 1 - Mr Jeremy Brown enter's Miss Courtney's office to tell her that he's the new English teacher for the class.

Act 2 - He is then introduced to the class, and having problems teaching, as all of them are very different in conversing in english, and the class has racial intolerance, and often very naughty or retarded.

Act 3 - He finally ended the class, and gave them a homework, and make an escape from this chaotic nightmare as the first day of being a teacher.

Characters relating to each other:

1) Ms. Courtney holds a very eminent dislike for the male sex and thinks of women as being superior over men and prefers having female teachers instead of male. She at first hesitates to hire Mr. Jeremy Brown, but puts him on a month's trial.

2) Ali Nadim and Ranjeet Singh are unable to get along and are constantly arguing with each other. 

3) Danielle Favre, who instantly grabs the attention of all the men, including Mr Brown. Her good looks often distract Giovanni and Max from their answers, while Mr Brown is often found in seemingly incriminating positions with her, and she seems to have a crush on him.

Chung Su-Lee - She is never seen without her Little Red Book of Mao, from which she often quotes.

Tarō Nagazumi - He has a reasonable command of English, but has a habit of adding "-o" to every word he says, due to his Japanese accent.

Maximilian Andrea Archimedes Papandrious - Max tends to misunderstand metaphors and large words. He also has a heavy accent, which causes him to add "H" to almost every word he says.

Danielle Favre - The beauty of the class which attracts majority of the men in class.

Ali Nadim - He is the most vocal of the students and often literally misinterprets everything said by others.

Jameela Rajhna - She can barely speak English, and needs Ali to translate her Hindi.

Each character has a strong cultural background which can totally relates to the audience from the different culture itself.

Comic relief

What is a comic relief?

Comic relief is the inclusion of a humorous character, scene, or witty dialogue in an otherwise serious work, often to relieve tension.

What is the role of a comic relief?

Releasing of emotional or other tension resulting from a comic episode interposed in the midst of serious or tragic elements in a drama. Comic relief often takes the form of a bumbling, wisecracking sidekick of the hero or villain in a work of fiction. A sidekick used for comic relief will usually comment on the absurdity of the hero's situation and make comments that would be inappropriate for a character who is to be taken seriously. Other characters may use comic relief as a means to irritate others or keep themselves confident.

Examples

In Star Wars films, is also considered to be used as comic relief. He is often found criticising the desperate situation the other characters find themselves in, or being rescued from predicaments by his counterpart R2-D2.

In the Mortal Kombat series, Johnny Cage is an actor who believed the Mortal Kombat tournament was a movie set, and often tried to impress Sonya Blade. Rain is also a joke character, since his attire is purple, and his name came from the Prince song "Purple Rain".

The Power Rangers television series franchise features Bulk and Skull. They are classmates to Angel Grove High School's secret identities of the Power Rangers and sometimes bullies while also sometimes serving as assisting secondary characters.

Title: Starship Troopers

Key Character:  Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico 

Motive: To defend mankind and avenge his family from the alien bugs.

Logline: Humans in a fascistic, militaristic future do battle with giant alien bugs in a fight for survival.

Setup: Johnny joined the military

Confrontation: An asteroid that originated from the orbit of planet "klendathu" hits Buenos Aires and kills Johnny's family

Resolution: They're able to learn how the Bugs think and turned the tide of the war.

Conflict: To defeat the alien bugs.

Title: Home Alone

Key Character:  Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico 

Motive: To get revenge on the people that murder his fiancé 

Logline: An 8-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind while his family flies to France for Christmas must defend his home against idiotic burglars.

Setup: It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family named Kevin got into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz and was sent to his room which is on the third floor of his house. Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forgot about Kevin who now has the house all to himself.

Confrontation: Two burglars, Harry and Marv, is planning to rob his house on Christmas Eve.

Resolution: Kevin managed to contact 911 and the burglars was arrested

Conflict: To fend himself off the burglars.

Title: Transporters 2

Key Character:  Jason Statham as Frank Martin 

Motive: To save the son of the Billing's family, Jack by finding a cure for a virus.

Logline: Mercenary Frank Martin, who specialises moving goods of all kinds, surfaces again this time in Miami, Florida when he's implicated in the kidnapping of the young son of a powerful USA official.

Setup: When Frank takes Jack for a medical checkup, he realizes barely in time that impostors have killed and replaced the doctor and receptionist.

Confrontation: A fight occurred at the hospital between Frank and Lola, the side antagonist. 

Resolution: Frank managed to kill the antagonist, and retrieved the antidote for The Billings.

Conflict: Jack has been injected with a deadly virus that will eventually kill anyone who the child breathes on.

Title: Man In Black

Key Character:  Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K/Will Smith as Agent J

Motive: Jay and Kay's mission is to foil the bombing plot by tracking down the alien terrorist

Logline: A streetwise NYPD detective joins a secret organization that polices extraterrestrial affairs on Earth.

Setup: A bug has landed on Earth and taken the body of a human man, he hijacks a exterminator truck and heads off to find a universe.

Confrontation: The bug kills the two ambassadors protecting it and steals diamonds instead of the universe. 

Resolution: Jay and Kay destroy the alien and save the universe. Laurel becomes J's new partner when K retires and neuralyzes himself so he can live with his wife.

Conflict:  After much chasing around, they find the universe around the collar of one of the ambassador's cat, Orion. The bug steals it and tries to escape.

Logline

In the planet, Klendathu, a gunslinger wanderer struggles to overcome the imp in order to save the gnome, but what he needs to do, comes with a price to pay.

Synopsis

A long, long time ago in a tattered, tattered galaxy...After leaving the sticky planet Lavalulu, a group of ogres fly toward a distant speck. The speck gradually resolves into a blonde, space abbey. Civil war strikes the galaxy, which is ruled by Ai, a fake imp capable of sloth and even cruelty. Terrified, a squat gnome known as Jeanette flees the Empire, with her protector, Jason. They head for Plymouth on the planet Klendathu. When they finally arrive, a fight breaks out. Jason uses his tattered pistol to defend Jeanette and they decide it's time to leave Klendathu and steal a truck to shoot their way out. They encounter a tribe of goblins. is attacked and the gnome is captured by the goblins and taken back to Plymouth. Jason must fight to save Gnome Jeanette but when he accidentally unearths a wild gun, the entire future of the tattered, sticky galaxy is at stake.

                Firstly, this is a modern science fiction film, many working adults these days are in to Star Wars, Prometheus and many more modern science fiction film, they love

               to see new fresh films in the scene, so this would make a good theme

              Its a story with all original sci fiction term, and i try to imply asian term to it

               so its a mix of western and asian culture

3 Act Structure for your story idea

Act1 - Jason is a wanderer of different planet, on his encounter to the next planet, there was a civil war, and he set his sight on saving this Gnome, Jeanette, he encountered there.

Act2 - He is stopped by the evil emperor imp, Ai.

Act3 - He manage to escape with Jeanette, and destroyed the imp, with a magical gun.
