3. The 3 Act Structure

Mind Your Language



Logline - The adventures of a young english teacher name Mr Brown teaching a group of students that are of different ethnic background

-ACT1
-How do they set up the story?
Key Character(s): Jeremy Brown
Must-Have Info: He is a patient teacher who is willing to nurture his students to be fluent in english language.
Motive: Jeremy Brown's aim is to coach his students so they are able to speak decent english language.
Conflict/Obstacles: His students have very short attention spend on learning. They are easily distracted by other minor issues that are happening in the classroom. 

Key Character(s): Ali Nadim
Must-Have Info: He is one of the the first student to make his appearance.
Motive: He aims to learn English perfectly.
Conflict/Obstacles: He is unable to get along with another fellow classmate and ends up arguing with him all the time.

-ACT2
-How does the key character struggle with the motive?
-List the obstacles/Conflict
-Which scene is the Climax? How do you know?
Confrontation: Jeremy Brown is unable to keep his students interested in learning English language.
Turning Point: When Ranjeet and Ali decided to exchange blows with each other and the rest of the class had to step in to stop them from fighting. 
Obstacles: Maximillian and Giovanni have been fighting for Danielle's affection. Ranjeet and Ali are unable to accept each other background differences.

-How does the story end?
-Is the motive resolved?
Climax (Grand Finale): Jeremy Brown decided to hand out homework to all of his students to end the lesson and quickly left the classroom to avoid more inquiries by the class.
Motive resolved: He managed to teach a few basic principles of english by correcting their mistakes.
